THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION GROUP, INC. (P.E.G.®) was founded on September 1, 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and incorporated by the State of Minnesota on January 28, 1982. P.E.G. produced its first continuing legal education (CLE) program on April 10, 1982 and has since presented more than 2,750 continuing education programs throughout North America. Today, a staff of professionals plans and produces more than 125 such programs each year. We utilize a current faculty of 30 to offer more than 60 program titles for our clients and their constituents.
P.E.G. is, first and foremost, a service organization, structured to work with clients / local sponsors to offer unique continuing education programs and training materials of the highest quality. Every P.E.G. produced seminar, tape and manual carries an unconditional guarantee of client/sponsor, registrant or purchaser satisfaction. P.E.G. is the only national CLE provider to offer an unconditional guarantee on all of its programs and products.
The markets served by P.E.G. include training for lawyers and bankers throughout the United States and Canada. As of 2004, fully twenty-three years after its start-up, P.E.G. has produced CLE programs for more than 300 different client organizations serving lawyers in all 50 states of the USA, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, six provinces of Canada, and in South America. More than a quarter of a million professionals have attended P.E.G. produced programs since 1982.
P.E.G. seminars and training materials are offered on a turnkey basis for presentation in its clients' local markets. Among national producers / providers of continuing legal education programming, P.E.G. alone works exclusively with not-for-profit organizations and associations in their public presentation. P.E.G. seminars and materials are a positive and useful source of non-dues revenue for those clients.
P.E.G.'s programming is effectively wholesaled - we provide the speaker, program, promotional and course materials. The local program sponsor (client) sets and collects the retail tuition, provides site logistics and local marketing. Our services are complimentary with our clients' curriculum and marketing efforts in their jurisdictions - a compelling, unique and distinguishing factor among national providers of continuing legal and banking education.
All P.E.G. live seminars and most audio and video tape programs - well over 100 separate titles in total -have been uniformly approved for CLE credit in all current U.S. mandatory jurisdictions, in accordance with the local rules (some jurisdictions do not allow credit for audio/video recordings). No live P.E.G. seminar has ever been denied credit in any MCLE jurisdiction.
P.E.G. faculty members are all independent contractors - full-time lawyers, law professors or unique subject-matter experts who are universally regarded in the profession as Master Advocates and Scholars. They offer their expertise in CLE programming on an exclusive basis through P.E.G. We manage the administrative tasks of planning and producing CLE seminars, freeing our faculty to focus on creative, dynamic and effective teaching - the unique gift that makes them universally popular.
State and local CLE providers are under substantial pressure to offer innovative programming at attractive prices with limited staff and financial resources. These organizations benefit from a unique partnership with a national producer that is dedicated to quality and is skilled and effective at applying economies of scale to produce outstanding programming that would be otherwise unavailable in most, if not all, local markets.
This is the model that P.E.G has used with great success since its inception. The local sponsors of P.E.G. produced programming generally retain up to two-thirds of the retail tuition charged to registrants. In many cases, our clients' net profits from our programs exceed the gross fees we charge. THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION GROUP, INC. has proven that it is possible to use modern market forces effectively to improve both the quantity and quality of continuing legal education. Creatively marshaling these forces, we assist our clients in supplementing their local curricula with outstanding national programming.
Our "brand" of CLE offers a minimum of six compelling benefits for the client/ sponsor: - it gives their local volunteer faculty members a "rest" - insuring that they do not "burn out" their own teaching and course resources;
- it offers their constituents (registrants) a break from sometimes too familiar local programming;
- it virtually assures that they will profit1 from supplemental programming that is unconditionally guaranteed to meet or exceed the registrants' expectations;
- this profit frees up limited resources for investment in other local courses, projects and staff initiatives;
- it affords their often limited and overburdened staff a break from the pressures of producing additional programming; and
- it frees up staff time that can be applied to new, creative and productive pursuits for their organizations.
THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION GROUP, INC. has produced programming for organizations from Miami, Florida to Anchorage, Alaska and from Bangor, Maine to Honolulu, Hawaii. More than two dozen state bar associations and not-for-profit CLE institutes present programs with P.E.G. on an ongoing, annual basis - the best testament to the quality and bottom-line success of our efforts. Clients like the United States Department of Health & Human Services, the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Election Commission, the Commercial Law League of America, the American Board of Trial Advocates, Coca-Cola, Baker & McKenzie and the American Bar Association come to P.E.G. in Minnetonka, Minnesota for quality, reliability and service that is unequaled in the continuing legal education marketplace.
P.E.G.'s officers are members of the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA), and we adhere to the Standards of Fair Conduct and Voluntary Cooperation promulgated by the American Law Institute / American Bar Association and adopted by the National Conference on Continuing Legal Education in 1968. Our President was a member of the Arden House III National Conference on the Continuing Education of the Bar. Our Vice-President has served as a Director-At-Large of ACLEA and was the Chair of the Association's 1997 Mid-Year meeting. P.E.G. employees frequently serve as faculty members for ACLEA educational forums, and we periodically offer a specialized, no-fee marketing conference for our clients. Since 1990, P.E.G. has sponsored the annual CLEl Awards in an effort to recognize and reward the most innovative and effective CLE organizations in the country.
THE PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION GROUP, INC. is a proven innovator in CLE. Average attendance at our programs has risen steadily over the years - an important sign that CLE consumers are responsive to our "brand" of CLE. Most P.E.G. produced seminars include elements on ethics and professionalism, and we are engaged in an on-going effort to insure that our programs contribute positively to the proficiency of registrants and the image of the profession.
