LAWRENCE J. FOX

Lawrence J. Fox is a trial lawyer and former managing partner at Drinker, Biddle & Reath in Philadelphia, specializing in securities litigation, lawyers professional responsibility and complex commercial cases. From 1990 to 1997 he was a member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility and was Chair of the Committee during the 1996-1997 year. He is the former Chair of the ABA Post-conviction Death Penalty Representation Project and was also a member of Ethics 2000, a commission established by the ABA to review the Model Rules.

Mr. Fox is a past Chair of the Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association and is former Chair of the ABA’s Section Officers Conference. He has lectured extensively in the area of ethics and professionalism, and is the author of Legal Tender: A Lawyer’s Guide to Handling Professional Dilemmas (ABA 1995), co-author of TRAVERSING THE ETHICAL MINEFIELD: Problems, Law, and Professional Responsibility (Aspen 2004) as well as numerous articles and short stories that address the ethical issues confronting the bar.

Mr. Fox has been a visiting professor and lecturer at many law schools, most recently as the Thomas A. O’Boyle Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching professional responsibility. He has also lectured at the law schools of Virginia, Case Western, Duke, Wayne State, Temple, Rutgers, Villanova, William & Mary, Cornell, Hofstra and many more. He was the Robert Anderson Fellow of the Yale Law School for the academic year 1996-1997. He served as a course instructor at the International Law Development Institute in Rome, Italy in March 1997 and was a State Department Speaker and Specialist in Argentina in August 1997 and in China in January 2000.
