WILLIAM H. HENNING
William H. Henning is a Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Alabama School of Law. Before moving to Alabama in 2002, he served for many years as the R.B. Price Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he was honored with numerous prestigious teaching awards. As a Missouri Commissioner with the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL), Henning chaired the drafting committee charged with amending Articles 2 (Sales) and 2A (Leases) of the Uniform Commercial Code (U.C.C.). In 2001, Henning was named NCCUSL’s Executive Director, a position he held until 2007. He now serves as an Alabama Commissioner.
Henning has published widely in the field of commercial law, including co-authoring the complete expository text of revised Article 9, Understanding Secured Transactions, 4th Ed. (LexisNexis). He is also co-author of Understanding Sales and Leases of Goods (LexisNexis) and The Law of Sales Under the U.C.C., Rev. Ed. (Thomson West).
Henning received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He also holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.
In addition to his work with NCCUSL and his academic expertise, Henning has experience in private practice, having served with a firm in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is a member of the American Law Institute and the American Bar Association, where he is active in the Business Law Section.
