EGIL "BUD" KROGH

In 1968, at the age of 29, Seattle lawyer, Egil “Bud” Krogh joined President Richard Nixon’s White House staff. During his time on the White House staff, Krogh’s responsibilities included District of Columbia governmental affairs, law enforcement, narcotics control policy, and transportation policy. His final position in the federal government was Under Secretary of Transportation in 1973.

As co-director of the White House “Plumbers,” Krogh approved a covert operation as part of a national security investigation into the leak of the Top Secret Pentagon Papers to the New York Times. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy and served four and a half months in prison. During the five years between disbarment from law practice in 1975 and reinstatement in 1980, Krogh taught Ethics, Public Policy Analysis and Administrative Law at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Since reinstatement, Bud has focused his law practice on mediation and resolving energy policy issues throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada.

Krogh has had 33 years to reflect on the lessons learned from his experience in the White House and their relevance to more recent political and business scandals. Krogh has also developed the Integrity Zone®, a model to help people make decisions based on integrity in their professional and personal lives, and to avoid the pitfalls he encountered in his own life. He currently lectures, teaches, and trains on the Integrity Zone® model for The Professional Education Group. Krogh’s book INTEGRITY: Good People, Bad Choices, and Life Lessons from the White House, written with his son, Matt Krogh, is also available from P.E.G.
