DANIEL R. WHITE

Dan White the author of numerous books and articles on the law, a professional editor, and an internationally acclaimed public speaker is a master of the art of communication.

A native of Atlanta, Mr. White attended Harvard College and Columbia Law School, where he began honing his editorial skills as Articles Editor of the Columbia Law Review. (His Note, written as a second-year student, was cited by the U.S. Supreme Court.) He clerked for a federal district judge in Washington, D.C. and practiced law in the Washington firm of Hogan & Hartson.

In Manhattan, Mr. White served as Editor in Chief of Law Firm Partnership and Benefits Report, as well as Managing Editor of Marketing for Lawyers and Employment Law Strategist national newsletters published by the New York Law Publishing Company. He also worked in the Legal Business Consulting division of Arthur Andersen, where he conducted a substantive and stylistic overhaul of Exxon's Guidelines for Use of Outside Counsel.

Mr. Whites first book on the law, The Official Lawyers Handbook, soared to best-sellerdom, ultimately ranking No. 1 on the Washington Post best-seller list. His second effort, Whites Law Dictionary, parodied that other legal dictionary, Blacks Law, in the process demonstrating the remarkable range of Mr. Whites skills with the language. His third book, What Lawyers Do, a selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club, confirmed his ability to bring clarity to legal concepts in a way that even lay people can understand (and enjoy).

Daniel R. White has written articles for publications ranging from the ABA Journal to Cosmopolitan. He has written speeches for corporate executives, and humor for Jay Leno. He has even written a poem, An Ode to Litigation, for the National Law Journal.

Mr. Whites prominence as a writer is matched by his prominence as a public speaker. He has instructed and entertained audiences lay and legal in forty-nine of the fifty states, as well as outside this country. He has appeared on CNN, NPR and CBS News, as well as numerous local television and radio programs around the United States.
