July 15 though September 8, 1971. Seven weeks that changed the world, ultimately brought down a presidency, and inalterably shattered the rising star of a principled young lawyer. Bud Krogh was at the eye of that storm and brings us invaluable life lessons in decision making and personal and professional integrity. Krogh was the co-director of the Special Investigations Unit in the 1971 Nixon White House. Ordered by President Nixon to stop the leaks of items like The Pentagon Papers and information on the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT) negotiations, Krogh recruited and supervised the now infamous White House Plumbers who engaged in an illegal covert operation. Of the various White House-based conspirators, Krogh alone pled guilty and refused to trade inside information for a reduced sentence. He was sentenced to prison and disbarred. Seven years later, with glowing endorsements from the likes of Watergate Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski and then Congressman Paul McCloskey, Bud was readmitted to the bar. White House experience, graduate school teaching, law practice and extensive writing and lecturing led him to develop The Integrity Zone — a conceptual model for making decisions with integrity. This engaging, thought-provoking, entertaining and inspirational presentation provides concrete examples of the threats to integrity in the practice of law, in business and in government service. More importantly, it offers solid advice and focused methods to overcome such threats. Valuable pages of course materials offer a useful reference during, but especially after, the presentation. Film clips and PowerPoint™ slides add to the thought and action-provoking nature of this compelling message. Unrestrained interaction with the audience is a hallmark of Krogh’s highly-acclaimed programs. To watch BookTV's broadcast and review of Bud's talk at the Commonwealth Club, click here.
